Greek toy retailer Jumbo said on Wednesday that its sales in Bulgaria increased by 17% in 2022, exceeding the average sales growth of 14% across the group last year.
In December alone, sales in Bulgaria jumped by 45% year-on-year, compared to a 22% rise in overall group sales for the month, Jumbo said in a press release.
As at the end of 2022, the retailer had nine stores in Bulgaria out of a total of 83 stores, with locations in Greece, Cyprus and Romania. Jumbo plans to launch two hyper-stores and online sales in Romania as well as one hyper-store in Cyprus in 2023.
The retail group also said it plans to remain on the same growth track while maintaining its investment and dividend policy objectives. Jumbo will provide its 2023 sales guidance by the end of April.
