Avesta.Tj – Tajikistan and the European Union have begun the process of negotiating an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the parties.
Negotiations with the participation of the parties began the day before, on February 23, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan in the city of Dushanbe, the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reports.
At a meeting of delegations led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sharaf Sheralizoda and Deputy Managing Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the European Union for Cooperation with Russia, the Eastern Partnership, Central Asia and the OSCE, Luc Devin, taking into account the sustainable development of Tajikistan and multi-vector cooperation, the need to revise the Partnership Agreement and cooperation with the European Union, operating since 2005.
The Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, along with the expansion of relations between Tajikistan and the European Union in the field of trade and commerce, will also contribute to the development of cooperation in the fields of politics and security and other areas of mutual interest.
