Over 2.5 million foreign nationals visited Albania in the first six months of 2022, 51.3 percent more than in the same period of 2021, the country’s Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said in a report on Monday.
In June alone, 876,056 foreign tourists arrived in the country, an increase of 45 percent year-on-year.
The largest (5.1 times) increase year-on-year was registered for Greek citizens — 199,943 of them visited Albania between January and June this year, according to the report.
Albania expects a bumper tourism season this year, surpassing the pre-COVID-19 (2019) levels.
