Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Lana Pudar won praises from her country after winning a historic gold medal in the 200m butterfly at the European Swimming Championships in Rome.
She finished first in the 200m fly final in two minutes and 6.81 seconds on Wednesday, two days after she grabbed the country’s first medal, a bronze, in the 100m fly.
“Dear and beautiful girl, it is a pleasure to watch you win medals and promote Bosnia and Herzegovina. Good luck kid, may you win every race where you jump into the pool,” a netizen commented on the Klix website, the most visited website in BiH. Similar comments flooded the social media.
In Wednesday’s race, Pudar started aggressively and already had an advantage of 1.30 seconds over her nearest rival after 100 meters. She continued with a good rhythm in the last 100 meters to break Bosnia’s national record and take a historic gold medal.
